Greetings from the Team!
My name is Gregory, and I want to share my passion for kettlebell training with you.
Although I was once a beginner in the world of kettlebells, I invested time and effort to become an expert.
Previously, my focus was mainly on traditional bodybuilding training at the gym.
But something was missing…
Despite my fitness endeavors, I didn’t feel fit and wondered why kettlebell training had such a different impact on my body.
My weight fluctuated between muscular with a belly or “skinny fat” but not really athletic.
So, something had to change!
In 2019, I was finally certified by kettlebell legend Steve Cotter and discovered the true power of kettlebell training.
Since then, I haven’t looked back.
However, the journey was by no means easy, and I want to take a few minutes to share my story with you.
I believe it will resonate with you if you’ve experienced and overcome similar challenges.
I vividly remember the first time I picked up a 20 kg kettlebell while preparing for Steve Cotter’s IKFF certification.
The weight overwhelmed me immediately!
How could I lift two of these kettlebells 40 times and then press one of them 100 times without putting it down?
But let’s rewind for a moment.
It all started in February 2019 when I made preparations for Steve’s visit.
I was thrilled that such a master in this field would come to us!
So, there was no turning back.
As I researched the fitness tests for Steve Cotter’s IKFF certificates, I approached the 20 kg kettlebell with determination.
To my great shock, even the 16 kg kettlebell presented an insurmountable challenge.
It left pain in my forearm, shattered my confidence, sore hands, and my spirits were low…
In my moment of despair, I turned to Steve and expressed doubts about my ability to successfully pass his tests.
In hindsight, I now recognize that this was a crucial turning point in my journey from kettlebell beginner to today’s expert.
So, let’s fast forward to the certification day in June 2019 – a personal experience I will never forget.
On that day, I was about to face the 20 kg kettlebell for the first time.
With difficulty, struggle, and determination, Angie and I conquered the first test.
So far, so good!
But the ultimate test was still ahead of me:
– 40 “Jerks” and 100 “Snatches” with two 20 kg kettlebells – a true Russian biathlon.
I was nervous and doubted if I could do it.
Nervous but determined, I accepted the challenge.
Everything went smoothly until the 36th repetition when a momentary loss of balance prompted Steve to call out, “No Count!”
“That’s it then..” I thought as my strength left me with a painful cry.
Angie’s motivating shouts and Steve’s reminder to focus, however, ignited a second wind in me.
With their support, I managed the 40th repetition.
During the 100-time Snatch test with the 20 kg kettlebell, I suffered cuts and wounds on my hands, which I referred to as “battle scars” at the time.
Adrenaline masked the pain until the set was finished.
In retrospect, this challenging but incredibly rewarding experience taught me to appreciate the value of endurance and unwavering dedication.
