Dear Over-40s,

Although I was once a novice in the world of kettlebells, I’ve invested the time and effort to become an expert.
In the past, my focus was primarily on traditional bodybuilding-style training at the gym.
But something was missing.

In 2019, I became certified by Steve Cotter and truly discovered the power of kettlebell training.
The journey was challenging, but I want to share my story as it might resonate with those who’ve faced similar struggles.
I vividly remember the first time I picked up a 20 kg kettlebell in preparation for Steve Cotter’s IKFF certification.
Overwhelmed, I wondered how I could lift two of them 40 times and snatch one for 100 reps without resting.
Excited but daunted, I approached the 20 kg kettlebell with determination.
As a younger trainer with a split training and bodybuilding background, even the 16 kg kettlebell was challenging.
My forearm ached, my palms chafed, and my spirits were low.
Despite my setbacks, I pushed onwards.
And this was a turning point in my transformation from novice to expert.
Certification day in June 2019 was unforgettable.
Facing the 20 kg kettlebell was nerve-wracking, especially after struggling with the 16 kg snatches.
Despite my fears, I trained diligently and passed the CKT1 test with Angie.
The ultimate test awaited: 40 jerks and 100 snatches with a 20 kg kettlebell—a true Russian biathlon.
Nervous but determined, I faced the challenge.
At the 36th rep, a loss of balance led Steve to shout “No Count!” I wanted to give up, but Angie’s encouragement and Steve’s reminder to focus on “fast legs” spurred me on.
So I finally managed to reach the 40th rep.
Adrenaline masked the pain until the set was completed.
This challenging yet rewarding experience taught me the value of perseverance and dedication.
Fast forward to the present day!
